Top of the Hub's Renovation and Redesign is A Treat For the Palate As Well As the Eye
Top of the Hub
Although “high-flying” restaurant Top of the Hub has been a Boston fixture – 52 stories above sea level – the restaurant hasn’t stayed fixed in its past. In fact, the restaurant has recently completed a major renovation and redesign of the entire restaurant and bar facility. These efforts not only serve an aesthetic purpose, but also enhance the service to patrons. Of primary significance is the renovation to the main Dining Room. Top of the Hub has selected a color palette of beiges and a muted light green. New mahogany panels accent the pillars and walls of the Dining Room, as well as both private dining rooms. In addition, table seating is completely brand new. The restaurant redesign, as previously mentioned, also enhances service to its guests. Top of the Hub has added two new wine cellars. The primary cellar, with a capacity of 2,000 bottles, has been placed adjacent to the Dining Room. A second cellar, holding over 1,200 bottles, is placed between the Dining Room and the lounge. This cellar, made completely of glass, effectively serves as a room divider, and its construction allows a view between each area. Naturally, this increased wine storage capacity at Top of the Hub allows the restaurant to expand its offerings in the wine list. Related to this oenophilic enhancement, it appears that Top of the Hub believes that small details can mean a lot; and in this case, they’re right. The restaurant now does what few upscale eateries in Boston do for wine lovers: all tables are set with Riedel stemware. This is a notable step, given how Riedel vessels are designed to enhance the wine-tasting experience; Riedel makes wine glasses paired perfectly with a specific type of wine. It will be interesting to see in the future if servers at Top of the Hub provide the proper stemware based on the wine selection of the customer. Top of the Hub’s change in décor – and especially its expanded resources for wine lovers – provide a wonderful reason to visit or revisit the restaurant.
