There's always something new happening in music from the theater, movies and the world
of cabaret. We'll try to provide a look at the latest as well as suggestions for classic

Ally McBeal
TV Soundtrack
The quirky TV show that's supposed to take place in Boston law offices is filled with
great music each week. This collection from the first season includes "Hooked On A
Feeling," "Tell Him," "You Belong To Me" and more. Vonda
Shephard is featured and she's terrific. (What's next from David Kelley? The
Greatest Hits from "The Practice?")

And So Much More
Linda
Eder
The fantastic Ms. Eder (soaring star of Broadway's "Jekyll & Hyde") has
become a cult figure among show biz folk. This is her second album and it's a keeper. Best
cuts include "Is This Anyway To Fall In Love," "Til You Come Back To
Me" and "The Man That Got Away." Many of the selections are written by
hubby Frank Wildhorn.

Irving Berlin in
Hollywood
Various Artists
Classic Tin Pan Alley by one of America's most gifted composers. Hear Merman
sing "Hostess With The Mostess" ("Call Me Madam"), Astaire
doing "Stepping Out With My Baby" ("Easter Parade") and Garland
in the outakes from "Annie Get Your Gun" ("They Say it's Wonderful,"
"Anything You Can Do" and more). There's also Clark Gable
singing (sort of) "Putting On The Ritz" from "Idiot's Delight."
